Paramore @ The Phoenix

The Phoenix Concert Theatre
October 26, 2007
As Franklin, Tennessee natives Paramore burst onto the stage, the crowd was in full mosh mode from openers The Starting Line and Set Your Goals. Paramore is made up of Hayley Williams (lead vocals), Josh Farro (lead guitar/backing vocals), Jeremy Davis (bass), and Zac Farro (drums). Williams is the total package onstage; not only do her clothes speak volumes of rocker cool (b&W striped shirt, gold suspenders and her flaming red hair), but she and the rest of the band have a penchant for some serious headbanging. Not the sort of headbanging where your hair gets caught in your necklace, but the kind perfected by a great rock band, where your hair looks dripping wet cool and never keeps you from losing your balance.

With the pop/punk genre, you would expect a band like Paramore to appear rehearsed, but the entirety of Paramore really do flow with their audience, engaging them between songs, doing shout outs and at this concert, even welcoming a demo being thrown on the stage. One thing that you can appreciate with an all ages crowd too is that they're not too proud to sing along, and those that ram packed The Phoenix knew every single lyric like it was their phone number.

Songs from Riot! were performed to a T as Josh Farro and Davis clapped their hands to get the crowd going through Zach Farro's pristine hip shaking drum line. One of Paramore's signature sounds is their drum line so we hope Zach Farro is kept on for a long time to come. Their latest video for "CrushCrushCrush" was done justice as Williams jumped across stage and closed the action packed set with video taping the crowd's fervor. Paramore are definitely a band to watch as they come through your town.
