The Living End

Album Title: Modern Artillery
Release Date: March 2, 2004
Genre: Punk, Pop
The first thing that comes to mind listening to the latest from The Living End is "polished." Unfortunately, polished is not what The Living End should sound like. Their appeal was in the rough shouting, dirty guitars and the Aussie sneer that no one else could duplicate.

Now they sound like…everyone else.

Maybe it's because everyone else has been borrowing from their earlier successes. It's possible, and probably true to a certain extent. Unfortunately, a wee bit of over-producing combined with a whole lot of pop-punk market over-saturation dulls this buffed effort.

This "Modern Artillery" just doesn't pack a punch.
