The Von Bondies

Whoooweee!!! The Von Bondies are glam-o-rific! No, probably not what you'd expect from a Detroit rock outfit whose major claim to fame so far is being on the receiving end of a knuckle sandwich from none other than Mr. White Stripes - but believe me, there is lots happening on this album.

The best happenings by far are "No Regrets" and "The Fever" (good news for everyone who has yet to listen beyond "C'mon, C'mon"). Therein lay the glam and hopefully the future of The Von Bondies sound as well. The rest of the album is good, just not as great as those two tracks. But the promise is there, and so maybe it's best to think of Pawn Shoppe Heart as the Bondies' puberty album; occasionally sounding all grown up but prone to occasional awkward squawking.
