Australia’s Hillsong UNITED has reached new heights for modern rockers with their latest release Aftermath
. The band have been featured on the iTunes Main Page and reached Top 5 of the overall sales chart, sold out nearly every major city on their Aftermath North American Tour, and still managed to keep it all in perspective. “Ultimately, through these songs, our upcoming tour – even the album’s packaging – we want to take people on a journey that leaves them feeling empowered to be about what God’s calling us to be about,” says frontman Joel Houston.
Hillsong UNITED is about giving a voice to a generation passionate about God. The composition of each song is well-crafted and fresh with digital loops, strings, synths, guitars, drums – you name it. Swelling vocals and poignant lyrics beckon devotion to be strengthened and lavish Jesus with prayers of thanksgiving that articulate everything you’ve wanted to say to God, instrument backing and all. Stand out tracks are “Like An Avalanche”, “Bones”, and “Search My Heart” (Radio), and “Nova”. “Nova” had a great indie rock feel to it with the bass and drums, “Bones” had some of my favourite lyrics – “You can take my dry bones, breathe life into this skin, you call me by name, raise me to life again.” Overall, Aftermath is about reconcile, it’s about continuing our walk with God in the aftermath of the Crucifixion.
The Aftermath Tour has one Canadian stop:
February 23, Vancouver, BC – Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre
