Texas has already produced talent in the worship music category with such artists as Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, and Leeland Mooring. Jeff Johnson is one to be added to the top of the list with his sincere and strong vocals and the desire for his albums to focus on the power of God rather than with inward ramblings that rust with destruction.

Johnson’s uplifting title track “Glorious Day” is a traditional hymn that breathes inspiration over the whole album, the lyrics were written by J. Wilbur Chapman in 1909 and yet, feel as if they had just been recorded by Johnson himself. Glorious Day also features a new arrangement of the traditional hymn “The Old Rugged Cross” with Shane Barnard of Shane & Shane. "I'm Moving On" is also worth mentioning for the smooth vocal harmony and lyrical arrangement alone. Despite access to the traditional hymns, Johnson also contributed lyrics with his stand out track being “He Rose”. Johnson’s aim is to not dress up lyrics with long-winded jabber, but to find the heart of the matter. He says in “He Rose”, “Death made into life/I have been made new/I’m no longer bound by sin or shame/it was crucified with You.” If you’re looking for a truly authentic worship album with vocals and authentic lyrics that brings you into the truth of God, this is the album for you.
