Buying this CD for the sweet cover art alone is worth it; a precious vintage look into Christmas past. What’s great about this Christmas CD is it doesn’t just cling to the classics, it goes further and makes some Christmas songs of their own. Dan Haseltine’s vocals crispen up Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas”, “O Little Town of Bethlehem” also gets a sort of trance beat throughout and echoing vocal harmony; if it was sped up a tad, Jars could have sent it to Paul Oakenfold.
“God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” is always a favourite and Jars puts a great arrangement on it complete with moving violins and a healthy backbeat. Overall the album is original in its instrumentation and well produced, pop it in your stereo for your next Christmas party.
