Franz Ferdinand is four art school Glaswegians hailed as the 'Next Big Thing' by the British press who just want to make girls dance. But you already knew that. The real question is: how is the music? Bass heavy and upbeat, the self-titled album lives up to its promise and is packed full of dance ready tunes. Spewing lines like "Cooling all the blood to slush/that congeals around the brain" in a nonchalant manner causes singer Alex Kapranos to come off a little creepy, but that's just what makes the album work. Simultaneously cryptic and catchy, Franz Ferdinand makes you think whilst you do the running man. From breaking up with a girl ("Cheating On You") to a homosexual dance ("Michael"), Franz Ferdinand's songs just have something about them.
