The Campbells

Genre: Rock
J Campbell isn't really much of a singer. He's flat most of the time and he's rather nasally. However, there's more than one famous musician who meets that description. And so, through Campbell's eye-squinching vocals, his eponymously named band the Campbells at least lets you know that they're not about to go muck about at the sound boards, twisting knobs until everything sounds perfect. Therein lies much of the charm of The Kid From Gillette, Wyoming, the quartet's second release. They've blended alt.country and guitar rock, and allowed that perfect amount of fuzzy production imperfection to stick around. From the political BRMC-esque tune "Atom Bomb on a V.A. Plan" to the punky and sentimental "Remember When," The Kid takes the listener many places...certainly not just Wyoming.
