More than a few people must've done Krista D wrong. On Jane's World, the Moncton musician sings about absentee fathers and inadequate mothers ("Run Jane Run"), abusive boyfriends ("Black Eyed Susan"), and neglected children ("Nursery Crimes"). While it's not to say that she's speaking from personal experience, it's clear that Krista D (a.k.a. Krista Acheson) has got a lot of pent up anger. But on the flipside, she also has fun, breezy odes to quirky love ("Extraordinary") and upbeat, confessional cuts about slogging through the tough bits of relationships ("You And Me"). So one must also assume Acheson has got a lot of pent up joy. With hints of ska and a strong punk undertone peppering the pop/rock mix, the singer has infused her sophomore effort with a confident voice and headstrong attitude. And the world could use another socially aware, "strong female" musician right about now.
