It could be the abundance of overflowing pubs, it could be the insanely narrow roads, or it could be the open and friendly nature of its people, but whatever it is, there's no denying that Ireland gives way to some amazing singer/songwriters. Niall Connolly is no exception, and he proves it once again with his sophomore effort, As Tomorrow Creeps From The East. The eleven songs included on the release are delicate and deep-thinking, sing-speak vocals carried on acoustic guitar. While Connolly's voice isn't as precious as say, Damien Rice's, his music is no less touching. It's true that As Tomorrow Creeps leans heavily on its ballads, but it's upbeat tracks are just as strong. Case in point: "I Will Come and See You Soon," on which the singer makes use of the penny-whistle and fiddle (something Rice doesn't do). If you've any sort of inclination for singer/songwriter fare, it'd do you well to pick up As Tomorrow Creeps From The East.
