Tammany Hall NYC

Album Title: Marathon
Release Date: July 6, 2005
Genre: Pop Rock
It's hard to describe exactly what Tammany Hall NYC sounds like. It's not that they're so far off the map that there's no way to explain their music, and it's not like they're just a rip-off of somebody else. Comparing one band to another in a review is just a cop-out, but in Tammany Hall's case, it makes the job a lot easier. The title-track of Marathon is reminiscent of the Wallflowers, "Holdin' Out" is like an all male version of Stars and "Something 'Bout Some People" is sort of like a more rocked-up Jack Johnson. There are saxophone solos and the bass goes on an eighth-note run that seems to last the entire album. There are notes of other bands in the New York City trio's music, and then there are none. It's easiest just to listen to Marathon for yourself. If you dig the mellow indie rock, then you'll probably dig Tammany Hall NYC.
