Album Title: Margerine Eclipse
Release Date:
Genre: Alternative
Margerine Eclipse wins the award for "Most Unremarkable Album – ever." It's not a bad album, but it ain't great either. It's no different from any of Stereolabs' previous few albums, but it isn't boring. It's a pop album minus the bubblegum stupidity, a retro album minus the excessive kitsch, mellow but not sleepy, and well, you get the idea. There's just nothing to go ga-ga over, nor is there anything to criticize. The album just is. The one noticeable difference is of course, the tragic absence of one Mary Hansen. So consider Margerine Eclipse a sonic tribute to Ms. Hansen; though gone in body, Stereolab keep on doing what they do best, keeping her spirit alive and well through music.
