The Vertical Struts

Album Title: The Vertical Struts
Release Date: November 1, 2005
Genre: Rock
Edmonton, Alberta may not be known for many things that don't have to do with oil, but recently it's been home to a number of teeny-sized bands that play the sort of loud music that completely belies the fact that they don't have five members. None of them sound like the White Stripes either. With vocals that are both flat and flatline, and guitars that are tuned so low it sounds like the strings are about to fall off, the Vertical Struts have an aversion to any song that goes anywhere near that four-minute mark. The garage band energy of the Struts comes across much better on stage, but their 10-song full-length debut (which clocks in at a whopping 24 minutes) does a bang-up job of keeping up, with frenetic handclaps, crashing cymbals, and urgent drumming. If you ever run out of Redbull, look no further than The Vertical Struts.
