My Project Blue

Album Title: My Project Blue EP
Release Date: October 11, 2005
Genre: Pop/Rock
If Richard Hell had decided that synthesizers were more punk than guitars, then perhaps the Voidoids would've sounded a little something like my project: blue. The Vancouver trio's five-song EP offers up a perfect slice of what lead singer Chad Blue and Company are serving. Tight guitar lines, precise drumming, and crazy ol' synth effects lay the foundation for Blue's razorwire voice. As indicated by the band's name, it's unquestionably the central focus of my project: blue's sound. Of course, where vocals like Blue's are concerned, it inevitably comes to the question of how many straight minutes the average human ear endure. In the long tradition that includes everyone from Neil Young to the Shaggs to the Mars Volta, my project: blue is an acquired taste, advisable to first test out in small bits before daring to devour the entire package whole. Just like Thrills gum.
