The Perms

Album Title: Better Days
Release Date: October 27, 2005
Genre: Pop Rock
There's a reason the Winnipeg quartet named their third disc Better Days, and I have a sneaking suspicion it's because that's exactly where the band is headed. There are fun times to be had with the Perms' newest record. Extremely catchy and energetic, the 11-track album does not allow you to just sit back and listen nonchalantly. Case in point: it took just two listens for all the words of "Lies" to worm their way into my mind, and I now have the overwhelming urge to get up and dance around the room every time it hits the speakers. It sounds like movie band the Wonders from That Thing You Do should be singing "Lies", but just two songs later on "While I'm Away" the Perms head onto the edges of punk territory. A rollicking ride from start to finish, Better Days is yet another brilliant offering from Winnipeg's bursting pop-rock scene.
