Matthew Black Orchestra

Album Title: Thatís All There Is
Release Date: May 15, 2005
Genre: Pop Rock
Merging the once entirely separate worlds of pop and orchestral music, Matthew Black Orchestra has added itself to an ever-growing list of bands like the Polyphonic Spree and the Arcade Fire. The genre is experiencing ever-growing popularity, and while all of the bands have a completely different sound, it's those front-and-centre string and brass instruments that help to define them. Although Black hails from Los Angeles he has those earthy, lazy vocals that are usually found emitting from Canadian singers that look like a lot like lumberjacks. His voice adds great dynamic to the Orchestra's music, with That's All There Is keeping its feet in two different worlds. When the band throws in New Wave keyboards on "When I Was A Star" the album hops between three, and even manages not to fall flat on its face.
