It makes you want to kick back and relax, and forget about all of life's rigmarole. You just want to smile. No it's not a drug, it's In Between Dreams, Jack Johnson's third, and most recent album. It's clever, smart, cool, calm and collected, just like him. So many songs on this disc reflect the random, happy-go-lucky nature of this former pro-surfer. His first single, Sitting, Waiting, Wishing, is an intelligent sing-songy quip about love, and a message for that supposedly-special someone to stop it with the games already. The CD is charged with acoustically-driven vibes in songs like Do you remember? and warm and fuzzy campfire tunes like Constellations. Banana Pancakes, with its fancy-free lyrics "This song is meant to keep you from doing what you're supposed to, waking up too early, maybe we could sleepÖpretend like it's the weekend nowÖ" make you want to cuddle with someone in bed all day and forget about the cruel world outside. Adding this mellow yet invigorating CD to a well rounded collection would be a very good idea, especially for those days where even a high-energy dance tune doesn't kick you into high gear. Hearing Jack Johnson croon is like chicken soup for the soul.
