Creed. The butt of so many jokes, for so many years. Then Scott Stapp goes and ruins everything by breaking up the band with his crazy antics. Rise Alter Bridge - also known as the members of Creed who learned to hate Stapp as much as the rest of the world. Condemn them not for their past mistakes, but praise them for moving forward÷and daring to replace Stapp with a vocalist so similar -Myles Kennedy - without any apparent irony. Alter Bridges' first album, One Day Remains, is exactly what it should be. It's got all the perfect elements any casual rock listener can ask for - spotlessly produced wailing riffs, monstrous drums, the occasional ballad, and river deep lyrics (although the font used in the liner notes makes reading them absolutely impossible). "Broken Wings", the second single lifted from the disc, is the best example of all this: its acoustic strains tug at the old heartstrings and Kennedy sounds more like an emotional Chris Cornell than anyone else. Even those who were responsible for the Creed jokes may want to warrant Alter Bridge a second look - and those who defended Creed through all the jabs, well, One Day Remains was custom-made for you.
