Apparently "Fun Razor" is doing very well in Japan, but audiences closer to Tim Cullen's California home have yet to catch on. There's no reason why they shouldn't, as the energy-infused pop rock Cullen presents on his solo debut is right up the mainstream's alley. Sounding a bit like Blink-182's Tom DeLonge with a bit of helium to help things along, Cullen belts out earnest pop tunes that would be fitting blasting through the car stereo of many North American teens (and Japanese as well, it seems). "On The Down" is one of the best tracks on the album, with Cullen's voice taking a gritty turn, and harmonized melodies placed in the forefront. There's no new territory crossed on "Fun Razor", but that doesn't really matter considering Cullen's music is more about rocking out, and once in a while taking a deeper look at what makes people tick, than breaking new ground.
