Album Title: Yellow Second
Release Date: March 8, 2005
Genre: Pop Rock
"Altitude", the first national release from Yellow Second, calls to mind images of movie band The Wonders (from the Tom Hanks flick "That Thing You Do"), but exactly why is not certain. Something to do with guitar wielding suits bouncing in front of old school mics in unison. Yellow Second don't actually wear matching suits, and presumably use new mics, but the Colorado four-piece does make the sort of jangly pop-rock that fits the type. A steady pounding of the kick drum leads through "Altitude", which sways between the major and the minor, weighted rock romps and breezier pop tunes. The song "Some Other Way", with its breathy vocals and lazy guitars, epitomizes the best of Yellow Second, although at 2 minutes 52 seconds, it's much too short.
