The Summerlad

Album Title: The Summerlad
Release Date: 2005
Genre: Ambient Rock
Disgusting lyrics of a poet gone wrong paired with steady drum and guitar arrangements work as nice background music, such as in "Scalpel Morning". It's excellent that the band is promoting that they recorded the album "in Western Canada for $700" because it truly provides an answer to the quality of the recording. Best appreciated by tripped out rhythm enthusiasts, The Summerlad aren't "bad", but they fail to allow the necessary access of understanding to their torturous poetic ramblings. A reworking of the tracks is necessary, there's something interesting, but not yet visibly there.
