Having acquired a grant from Canada Council for the Arts, Sekoya has been given the boost up they were searching for. They were finally able to fully fund the recording of their debut album and get their music heard by the masses. Crossing over from jazz to electronic and hip hop, Sekoya have spanned areas and emotions of music that many can relate to over and over again. Working with such notable jazz musicians as Grammy Award Winning Greg Hutchinson and Reuben Rogers, along with fellow Canadian and multi-award winner Brad Turner, Sekoya have invented a unique, fresh sound that melts infectious harmony arrangements into down tempo, break-beat grooves. Amalia Townsend's soulful vocal stylings are a perfect compliment to the overall mix in Sekoya's music. This album could be Canada's latest answer to those looking for a skilled knowledge in the new sound of soul.
