ABBA In Miniature Form

Published: 2004-08-06
Everyone's favourite Swedish pop outfit ABBA has a new DVD lined up for release on August 24st. 'ABBA: The Last Video' is yet another way that the four-piece is reworking their way into the minds of the people. They already have a musical, but it seems the Swedes also would like to be immortalized in a short movie.

'ABBA: The Last Video' is about four musicians in search of a record contract, who run into the inevitable oily record company bigwig. It looks as if Bjorn, Benny, Anni-Frid, and Agnetha are represented in the video by scary clamation puppets. Then again, it could just be a lot of plastic surgery.

The DVD also contains a few of the group's original videos. Included in video format is 'Dancing Queen', one of the biggest and most memorable hits of the 1970s. It's for flawless pop songs like 'Dancing Queen' that ABBA will forever be remembered. In addition to that timeless song, the singers of ABBA also gave the world 'Mamma Mia', 'S.O.S.' and 'The Name of the Game'

Also available in the ABBA DVD genre is 'ABBA: In Concert', which hopefully is self-explanatory. Fans can also pick up 'ABBA: The Winner Takes It All – The ABBA Story', presumably about the story of ABBA. Yet another two DVDs centered on the Swedes is 'ABBA: Gold: Greatest Hits' and 'ABBA: Definitive Collection' which feature the pop group's music videos.

During their twelve years together, ABBA put out 8 full-length albums, each one usually rising to the top of the charts. They were one of the most commercially successful groups of the 1970s, but then again there's no accounting for taste.
