Bono Saluted by King

Published: 2003-12-03
Perhaps one of Ireland's greatest exports is the Irish rock singer Bono. The frontman for U2 has spent a great deal of time and money focusing on the plight of earth's poorest continent Africa. Most recently Bono lent his talents to the World AIDS Day concert in Cape Town, Sough Africa that was sponsored by Nelson Mandela.

On January 17 in Atlanta, Georgia Bono's efforts as a humanitarian will be recognized by the King Center. Founder of the King Center and widow of Martin Luther King Coretta Scott King said that they were very fortunate to be able to honour Bono for his work as a humanitarian and exemplifying qualities so important to her husband.

Bono will be honoured at the King Center's 2004 "Salute to Greatness" awards dinner on January 17, 2004.
