Badly Drawn Boy Stops In Canada

Published: 2004-08-03
Damon Gough aka Badly Drawn Boy is heading to North America this fall to support his new album. The Boy has only one Canadian dated scheduled though; October 5th at the Commodore in Vancouver. The remaining 15 dates of the tour will take place in the United States.

'One Plus One Is One' was put on shelves on July 27th in the U.S., and the first single lifted off the record is 'Year of the Rat'. The video for said single involves lots of cartoonish hugging, perhaps promoting peace in Gough's own way. Sound clips of 'One Plus One Is One' are available for listening at the official site

With the addition of 'One Plus One Is One' to his back catalogue, the quirky songwriter has amassed four full-length albums (if you include the soundtrack to the film 'About A Boy'). Although this record hasn't been quite as warmly received as his past two – 2000's 'The Hour of Bewilderbeast' and 2002's 'Have You Fed The Fish' – Badly Drawn Boy is still a critical darling.

The adoration for Badly Drawn Boy started to build in 2000 when his debut album 'The Hour of Bewilderbeast' won him the Mercury Music Prize. Even though Gough received such an enormous accolade, it didn't seem to change him in the least. In other words, he still sports the garb and signature toque of your run-of-the-mill street person.
