Jack Johnson Takes His Friends Out

Published: 2004-07-29
Hawaiian born surfer/songwriter Jack Johnson is popping into Canada for two dates on his summer/fall tour that sees him go from Nagoya, Japan to Maui, Hawaii in the span of one week. Johnson will be supporting his sophomore release 'On and On' as he jets around the world.

Accompanying Johnson on tour is Donovan F. (whose album he helped to produce) and Philadelphia trio G. Love & Special Sauce. Both groups will be playing the Canadian dates. Interestingly enough, Jack Johnson was the one opening for G. Love & Special Sauce not too long ago. Tickets for the shows range from $40 - $45 depending which side of the country you tend to hang out in.

Johnson first broke into music and out of surfing in 2001 with his debut album 'Brushfire Fairytales'. The record featured fellow folky Ben Harper, which by no means harmed Johnson's chance at success. To appease college kids across the land, Johnson then went to work on his second album 'On and On'. The most recent single taken off of the 2003 record is 'Taylor', the video for which features funny man Ben Stiller.

Even though Johnson stepped onto the music path, he hasn't forgotten his love of surfing. Along with a few of his friends, Johnson created the surf documentary 'Thicker Than Water', for which he provided the music (naturally).

Jack Johnson's Canadian shows:

September 10 Toronto - Molson Amphitheatre
September 22 Vancouver - Plaza of Nations
