Ja Rule Charged With Assault in Toronto

Art imitates life, but in this case it was the other way around. The 28 year old Jeffrey Atkins who is better know as rapper Ja Rule took a movie he was making a little too far. Ja Rule was in Toronto filming a remake of the urban thriller "Assault on Precinct 13" with Ethan Hawke and Laurence Fishburne. During this time on June 5 a stabbing occurred at the La Rouge Nightclub.

On July 26 Ja Rule turned himself in to Toronto authorities and was released on $10,000 bail. He must return for an August 30 court appearance.

Earlier this month the rapper was arrested in New York for possession and driving without a license. He pled guilty to the driving charge but the possession charge was apparently dropped.

Ja Rule's new record, R.U.L.E., is due for release sometime in November.
