Snow Patrol At Home In Canada

Published: 2004-07-28
Irish band Snow Patrol will bring their instruments and their bodies to what very well may be the most famous snowy country in the world. During the four-piece's 29 date North American tour they will make two stops in the True North. Both Canadian dates are in September though, so it looks like the boys won't see any of that famous white fluff (although they might see a Mountie, who knows).

Taking their turn to go through the British hype-machine, Snow Patrol might be one of the few bands to come out all right on the other side. That's mainly because the Patrol has already established its place in music; the band is already on their third full-length album. It was only their newest record 'Final Straw' (released earlier this year) that managed to launch Snow Patrol into the spotlight.

The one track that accomplished that feat for Snow Patrol was the massive hit 'Run'. A song of Herculean proportions, 'Run' became an anthem of sorts in the UK and finally made people take notice of the band that'd been together for seven years. Reaching the top of the British charts and selling-out entire tours, Snow Patrol is riding the wave of their new found success.

Now Snow Patrol sets it sights on the notoriously vicious American market. With the help of the Mercury Music Prize nomination Snow Patrol recently received, this tour could be the one that propels them into stardom on this side of the Atlantic.

Snow Patrol's Canadian dates:

September 17 Toronto - Opera House
September 29 Vancouver - Richard's On Richards
