Tony Joe White to Release Inspired Album

Published: 2004-07-27
Swamp pop artist Tony Joe White makes his first album in six years a family affair. While his wife Leann co-wrote two songs on the album, she also took the photo for the album cover, and White sings a song with his daughter Michelle. Also appearing on the album with White are Shelby Lynn, Emmylou Harris, Lucinda Williams, and Waylon Jennings widow Jessi Colter.

Louisiana native Tony Joe White has had an incredibly successful career over the years writing hit songs for other artists like Joe Cocker, Tina Turner, Elvis Presley, Dusty Springfield, Kenny Chesney and Waylon Jennings. One of White's biggest successes was the number one song by Brook Benton and Ray Charles "Rainy Night in Georgia".

"Heroines" – named after the women who appear on the album – will be released on September 28. There are no details yet but a tour should follow the release of the new album.
