Broken Social Scene Carries On

Published: 2004-07-26
Yet another act that was kicked off of the Lollapalooza train has gone ahead and made new plans for the summer. Canada's Broken Social Scene will be playing a few dates around the continent, and start up work on their next album. The band has a total of seven dates scheduled for August and September, with four of them taking place in Canada.

One of Broken Social Scene's home performances is taking part in the giant show on Toronto's Olympic Island. The concert, which happens on August 7th, also features Sam Roberts, Sloan and the Constantines.

Broken Social Scene originally planned to use this summer to work on the follow up to 'You Forgot It In People', but when the offer of being a part of Lollapalooza came along, BSS put their recording time on hold. The record, tentatively titled 'Windsurfing Nation', will be Broken Social Scene's third full-length. The album is set to come out in February 2005.

Between the various members of Broken Social Scene recording, releasing and touring as solo artists or with other groups (Metric, Feist, Apostle of Hustle, Raising the Fawn – to name but a few), it's a good thing the group received this time to work on their new album.

Broken Social Scene's tour dates:

August 07 Toronto – Olympic Island
August 26 Ottawa – Ottawa Folk Festival
August 27 Toronto – Harbourfront
September 24 Halifax – Marquee
