Canadian Idol Theme Shows Announced

With last nights show the top 10 finalists for Canadian Idol got underway. Canadian Idol kicked off the top 10 show with a Canadian artist's theme. Each week the remaining finalists will perform songs from a given theme. As a part of the themed performances two guest artists will appear with the judges as the contestants try and do justice to the artist's work. The first guest artist also appeared in season three of American Idol; Lionel Richie will visit the show on August 11. Richie was a member of The Commodores in the 70s before he went solo. Most recently the Tuskegee, Alabama native is known as the father of "Simple Life" star Nicole Richie.

The second guest artist is a Canadian singing and songwriting legend; on August 18 Gordon Lightfoot will join the Canadian Idol judges table.

The themes for the remaining Canadian Idol shows which airs on CTV, Wednesdays (performance show) and Thursdays (results show), are:

July 28 British Invasion
August 4 Rock and Roll
August 11 The Music of Lionel Richie
August 18 The Music of Gordon Lightfoot
August 25 Summertime Hits
September 1 Musical Standards
September 8 Judges Choice (the final three perform)
September 15 Finale
