Five Faces Walk Into A Box-Set

Published: 2004-07-19
This Tuesday (July 20th) sees the release of a compilation of epic proportions. The compilation in question is 'Five Guys Walk Into A BarÖ' a four disc set chock-full of unreleased tracks and live recordings of none other than the Faces. 'Five Guys' is being released by Rhino records and will cost upwards of $60.

The Faces (aka Rod Stewarts' band) are one of the more underappreciated acts of the '70s and 'Five Guys' will probably help solidify that fact. Although the band was together a mere six years before they caved in, the Faces managed to punch out three studio albums in that time. Among those records is the band's classic 1971 album 'A Nod Is As Good As A WinkÖTo A Blind Horse', which includes the Faces' biggest hit 'Stay With Me'.

Although he's probably the best known, Rod Stewart isn't the only famous musician that the Faces housed; Ron Wood, current guitarist for none other than the Rolling Stones, and drummer Kenny Jones who moved onto the Who, were also members of the Faces. So with that said, it's easy to see that the Faces had one of the best line-ups to come out of the seventies (before you disagree, stop and remember that this was before Stewarts' current incarnation).
