The Rude Mechanicals Check for Squirrels in Canada

Published: 2004-07-13
It is not unusual for parts of Canada to be ignored by musicians when they embark on a nation wide tour. For many artists a cross country tour means between Vancouver and Montreal. The northern and eastern provinces are forgotten. Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island natives The Rude Mechanicals will hit a few of the forgotten places when they hit the road on July 15. The Rude Mechanicals who now make their home in Toronto will visit their home on the island during the tour. A trip out west was originally planned, but due to the fires the band has postponed the trip for now. Maybe later in the fall they can reschedule the tour. After trying for the past few years, the Rude Mechanicals will participate in the twenty-sixth annual Dawson City Music Festival in the Yukon territory. Rude Mechanicals guitarist Matt MacQuaid says that he is worried that the band may not want to leave once they arrive in Dawson City.

The tour is to support the release of the band's third album "Checkin' For Squirrels" which was released last December.
