Molasses Make 'Trouble at Jinx Hotel'

Published: 2004-07-02
The Montreal rural country and blues ensemble Molasses says that there is "Trouble at Jinx Hotel". The album is the fourth for the group and was released on May 31. "Trouble at Jinx Hotel" did not come about in the typical manner where musicians enter the studio, lay down already carefully crafted tracks, and then put it all together. Singer/songwriter Scott Chernoff entered the studio with a few guitar songs. In a 'what would happen if' mood, Chernoff gathered some Molasses musicians and had them improvise around what he had written. Using traditional instruments, field recordings, found sounds, and makeshift instruments the album evolved into "Trouble at Jinx Hotel". Montreal's Molasses keeps running with their fourth release "Trouble at Jinx Hotel".
