Listening to tunes on the internet is the best thing to happen music. Listeners have a wider variety of music to choose from and are not tied to one genre. They also have a larger library of songs to access. And unlike radio, there is no problem with interference or static.

There are a number of different services available on the internet for listening to music. Many of the services have free and premium services.

Between June 2003 and February 2004 internet radio listening increased by 32 percent according to Arbitron. Listening to internet radio during the day in the workplace has also increased. Each worker can choose his listening preference.

But the music industry in its panic state, has begun levying fees to those internet stations. Radio stations are not required to pay the same fees so the only way the internet services are able to survive is by charging the listener or be owned by a company with deep financial pockets.

The top internet radio services are:
Yahoo Launchcast
Live 365
Music Match Radio
Radio FreeVirgin Lite
Wimamp Radio

These are just a few of the many choices available on the internet.

Each service offers its own list of stations and perks. Each also has its own drawbacks depending of the needs of the listener. Many of the drawbacks are lost once a listener purchases the premium service.
