Radio Berlin Tour, Prepare Next Album

Published: 2004-06-24
Vancouver four-piece Radio Berlin is set to hit a few cities on the western side of the continent this summer. They will only be playing in four Canadian towns, and two American, but fear not, for Radio Berlin has plans for a much larger tour this fall. Check back to Soul Shine often for more information on the upcoming fall tour.

This summer the band will be playing in support of their 2003 album 'Glass', but may have some new material to showcase come the autumn months. Radio Berlin will begin work on their fifth album soon, and on their website promise that they have a few "interesting and strange tricks up their sleeve" that are "likely to lead them in new directions".

One of those tricks includes the fact that all of Radio Berlin's members are capable of playing two instruments. This of course, enables them to switch up their position within the band. For the group's next album, Jack Duckworth and Chris Frey have decided to trade instruments, now playing bass and guitar, respectively. With a change such as this, it's impossible for a new sound not to materialise.

In their six years together, Radio Berlin has produced four full-length albums and toured around the country, so the members are by no means strangers to the Canadian music scene. However, their music carries that oh-so-popular eighties sound, so this may be the perfect time for Radio Berlin to blow the world's socks off. They've played with other 80s-esque bands like Hot Hot Heat and Interpol, so Radio Berlin has definitely got a good start.

Radio Berlin's summer dates:

July 23 Edmonton – Likwid Lounge
July 24 Calgary – The Night Gallery
August 20 Victoria – TBA
August 21 Vancouver – TBA
