Metric's Summer Off

Published: 2004-06-23
For a while now, Metric's 'Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?' has been a necessary item in most hipsters' record collections. Metric spent a large portion of last year touring around the continent promoting the successful indie album, and are now taking a break. The band members will have the summer off except for a few upcoming July dates, that is. Metric has two Ontario gigs scheduled for the summer of 2004.

The rest of the band's summer, however, will be spent enjoying the lovely weather. According to Metric's website, the members will also be writing and recording material for the group's next release. The band has also revealed that they will be out and about once again in the fall. Metric has plans to headline their very own North American tour later this year.

Released in September of 2003, 'Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?' was Metric's first full-length release. The album enjoyed quite a bit of success on the indie charts, and single 'Combat Baby' even saw some airtime on Much Music. To support the record Metric toured tirelessly, playing with other Canadian acts like the Stills, Hot Hot Heat and Broken Social Scene (of which singer Emily Haines and guitarist James Shaw are members).

Metric's summer dates:

July 14 Toronto – The Mod Club
July 23 Guelph – Hillside Festival
