Hot Hot Heat Fire Up in the Studio

Published: 2004-06-18
The members of indie-rock band Hot Hot Heat are currently gearing up to get back in the studio and create their sophomore album. The band will be travelling down to La-La Land (sometimes known as Los Angeles) at the end of June to lay down the tracks. Working with Hot Hot Heat will be producer Dave Sardy, who has also worked with bands like Oasis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

It hasn't been an easy ride for HHH to reach the stage of recording their second album. After 19 months of strenuous touring promoting 'Make Up the Breakdown', the boys of Hot Hot Heat headed back home to Victoria to take a much needed rest. There they were able to write and record new material in a rundown-barn-turned-recording-studio near guitarist Dante DeCaro's house.

The band has chosen about 25 songs that will go through pre-production, out of which will come the final track-listing for Hot Hot Heat's new album. At the moment, HHH is planning to have 13 songs on the record.

On the band's official site, singer Steve Bays expressed his feelings on the upcoming album: "So much has happened to us since we recorded 'Make Up the Breakdown' in May of 2002 and it feels so good to release all of the ideas that were starting to feel bottled up. I won't say much more about the songs right now except for that it's hard for me to contain my excitement about them...!"
