Bob Dylan To Receive Scottish Doctorate

American folk-rock singing legend Bob Dylan will be honoured by St Andrews University, the oldest university in Scotland, with an honourary doctorate degree in Music. Dr. Dylan will be hooded in ceremonies on June 23. The degree will be the second such honour for Dylan. He was awarded a honourary degree by Princeton in 1970.

Dylan was born Robert Zimmerman 63 years ago. He took the name of Dylan from the Welsh poet Dylan Thomas.

St. Andrews University was founded in 1413. The man who would be king – Prince William – is currently enrolled as a student at St. Andrews, which is located northeast of Edinburgh.
