Franz Ferdinand's Future Plans

Published: 2004-06-16
Buzz band Franz Ferdinand was just in Toronto this past Monday (June 14th), performing at the Kool Haus to a completely sold out crowd. In addition to the show, all four members made publicity appearances around the city, including a stop at the nation's music station.

The art-rockers treated the MuchOnDemand crowd to a performance of current single 'Take Me Out' and also provided an interview. During Franz Ferdinand's appearance at Much Music, lead singer Alex Kapranos gave viewers a hint at what is to come in the Scottish band's future. While chatting with the Rick Campanelli, it was revealed that the four-piece is planning to schedule yet another batch of North American dates sometime this fall.

Along with that bit of information came the promise that Franz Ferdinand will try to hit more Canadian cities next time around. The thirteen-date tour that the boys are currently on had only the Toronto stop as far as Canada goes. Including their previous jaunt across North America in February, the band has had gigs in Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver.

Not only did Kapranos mention the upcoming tour, but he also said who they would like to have as the band's opening act. Believe it or not, Franz Ferdinand would love to have Canada's own Nardwuar the Human Serviette and his band the Evaporators open for them. Franz Ferdinand first met the lively Nardwuar when he interviewed the band earlier this year. You can watch the action play out at

In an interview with NME in May, the members of Franz Ferdinand also gave hungry fans some good news. When asked when the band's second record can be expected to drop, guitarist Nick McCarthy answered with this: "The next album should be out beginning of next year."

If you missed Monday's MOD episode featuring Franz Ferdinand, the 'Best of MuchOnDemand' airs on Saturday at 7pm ET on Much Music.
