Blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughn played the famed Montreux festival in Switzerland twice with very different results. On August 10 a double disc DVD of the performances will be released. "Live at Montreux 1982 & 1985" will include songs that do not appear on the CD by the same name. The DVD will also feature a documentary about the famous music festival and interviews with Jackson Browne, John Mayer, Tommy Shannon, and Chris Layton.
Vaughn's inaugural appearance in 1982 could be viewed as a disaster by some, but the performance caught the eye of two artists who helped launch Vaughn as the blues legend he became – Jackson Browne and David Bowie. Browne gave Vaughn free time in the studio. Vaughn played lead guitar on Bowie's forthcoming album "Let's Dance".
In 1985 Vaughn made a return to Montreux as the headlining blues artist and a master guitar player.
