Burning Brides Get Hi-Tech

Published: 2004-06-15
The new album from Burning Brides will not hit shelves for a while longer, but you can hear 'Leave No Ashes' now. The trio is streaming the record through their website at www.burningbrides.com. Be forewarned: it takes quite a bit of trouble to actually hear the record. For those who want to bypass the technology, 'Leave No Ashes' will be released June 29th, on V2 records.

Burning Brides' first album was called 'Fall of the Plastic Empire', which was released in April of 2001. 'Fall of the Plastic Empire' earned the band a place beside other garage acts like the Strokes and the White Stripes. The Brides, however, did not gain as much notoriety as some of the other acts in the garage explosion. The lack of fame probably didn't bother the band though, since the goal of all three members was simply to put out music that counteracted the horrible crap they heard coming out of their radios.

Hailing from Philadelphia, the Brides are comprised of vocalist/guitarist Dimitri Coats, his girlfriend, bassist Melanie Campbell, and drummer Mike Ambs. The story of how Burning Brides came to be is one of boho-art-student fantasy perfection.

It seems that Coats and Campbell really took Kerouac's classic novel 'On The Road' to heart, and spent the better part of two years travelling around America looking for some rock action. After their literary quest was fulfilled, the couple stumbled upon their prospective drummer and formed Burning Brides in 1999. All in all, transient life and chance have both been very kind to the Brides.
