Afflatus To Release Debut

Published: 2004-06-11
This summer Toronto band Afflatus will release their very first long player. The planned drop date for 'Autumn's Urgency' is August 14th, but like most releases in the music world, is probably somewhat tentative. To celebrate the album, the boys of Afflatus are throwing a CD release party at the Horseshoe Tavern the day the record drops.

Included on the new disc will be 'Forgive Me' and 'Time I Waste', both songs that were included on the band's demo. Thanks to some fancy technology the tracks will be given a new life in that glorious land of high fidelity.

Although their debut album has yet to be released, Afflatus has already made a name for itself by playing Toronto's live circuit. The five-piece has been playing around Toronto constantly for the better part of a year at venues like the B-Side and the Horseshoe Tavern (which also gave rise to Canadian groups the Band and the Tragically Hip).

It's probably quite a challenge to get any more eclectic than this band; the music that the fans of Afflatus go crazy for is a blend of rock, jazz, funk and a little bit of what seems to be reggae. Sounds a little odd, sure, but maybe that's why their name means 'creative impulse'. To sample a bit of what the boys of Afflatus are offering, go to their site at
