Creed Calls It Quits

"The band begins and ends with the love of the music," said Creed songwriter and guitar player Mark Tremonti. After eight years of making music as a band, the members of Creed have decided it was time to end that chapter of their lives and begin a new one.

For Tremonti that means joining forces with fellow band mate drummer Scott Phillips, the original bass player from Creed Brian Marshall, and singer songwriter Myles Kennedy to form a new band Alter Bridge. The band plans on releasing their first album August 10. The band is also talking about a tour.

Creed's other songwriter and singer Scott Stapp will pursue a solo career. Stapp can be heard on the upcoming album of music from "The Passion of the Christ".

Stapp noted that the band could not have accomplished the things they had without the support of the fans. To that end, Stapp wanted to thank the fans. In the eight years they were together Creed released three albums and sold over 30 million copies world wide. Sometime later this year Wind-up Records will release a greatest hits album of Creed's music. Further details on the album are not available at this time.
