Bill Wyman Recovers Lost Guitar

Published: 2004-06-07
In 1967 Rolling Stone bass player Bill Wyman lost his guitar in New Zealand while the band was on tour. Nearly 40 years later what once was lost has now been found. Wellington, New Zealand resident Nick Sceats – a local musician and business consultant – had the guitar in his possession. Among local Wellington musicians the guitar was known as the "legendary Wyman bass". Wyman's guitar was manufactured by Vox. Only a small number of the guitars were created. It is the only guitar by Vox that carries an endorser's name.

Sceats wrote Wyman telling the bass player about the guitar, thus confirming ownership. Upon receiving the guitar Wyman said that the guitar was not in bad shape considering what it had been through. Wyman wrote a note to Sceats thanking Sceats for his kindness.
