The Darkness Shines In Canada

Published: 2004-06-04
After their gigantic success in North America, the Darkness have decided to give the continent another go. Their last U.S. tour was completely sold out, and there's no reason to expect this one won't be. Last time the Darkness played in Canada was in January when the band stopped in Toronto. This time around the band has chosen to bypass the city in favour of the French. Both of the Darkness' Canadian stops will be in Quebec.

The band that received the lucky spot of opener for the tour is the Wildhearts, the members of which can count themselves as friends of the Darkness. The Wildhearts are also from Britain, although they presumably do not wear skintight catsuits (damn!). The 'Permission To Land' tour will wrap up – for the second time – on June 26th.

In between tours, the members of the Darkness managed to lay down all of the tracks for their second album. Maybe the band will even preview some of the new songs during their upcoming performances. Whether that happens or not, audience members can count on a spectacular stage show from the boys.

Hopefully there will be no more complications with lead singer Justin Hawkins voice as there was during their previous North American tour. The singer had to have an operation on his throat to cure a severe acid reflux problem that has ailed him for quite some time. The band was forced to cancel a few of their U.S. dates due to the surgery. If the singer didn't receive the operation his voice could have been ruined for good. What would the world do without Hawkins' magnificent falsetto anyways?

Canadian dates on the 'Permission To Land' tour:

June 21 Quebec – L'Agora
June 22 Montreal – Verdun Auditorium
