Live Aid DVD

Published: 2004-06-01
Back in 1985 a man by the name of Bob Geldof put together this little concert he called Live Aid. Hundreds of artists on both sides of the Atlantic participated in the event and rocked the world while raising money to aid starving Ethiopia. Live Aid has raised over $40 million in relief funds. Recently it was announced that the footage from that concert would be made available on DVD. No details of who or how much of the concert would actually appear on the DVD. Nor has a release date been mentioned.

Even before fans of the original Live Aid can enjoy the show all over again, Irish rocker Bono is talking about putting on a second Live Aid concert to help the poorer nations of the world.

The lead singer for U2 who was born Paul Hewson claims to have British Prime Minister Tony Blair as a supporter. Bono has been in the news more lately for his political meetings and ranting, than he has as a musician. Now it would appear Bono wants to mix the two. Original Live Aid creator Bob Geldof claims that plans for a second Live Aid next summer are nothing but rumours.
