Saying Cheers With Jerry Garcia

Published: 2004-05-28
As if fronting one of the biggest cult bands in history isn't enough to be remembered by, Jerry Garcia will now be immortalized through alcohol. Three red wines will be released all bearing labels featuring the art of Garcia himself. The bottles will be limited edition so Deadheads better act fast if they want to get their paws on the drink. The wine is being made and bottled in California at the Clos du Bois winery.

For those who think that Garcia was just one of the world's premiere guitarists, don't be fooled. The wine company isn't just using the man's art because of the legacy he left behind as a member of the Grateful Dead. Garcia actually attended the California School of Fine Arts, where he honed his drawing and painting skills. Even after he left the school, Garcia always kept his art supplies near by during those endless Dead tours.

This isn't the first time that Garcia has been made into a comestible. Ben and Jerry's ice cream also have a product named after the guitarist (sort of). The extremely popular Cherry Garcia can be found in grocery stores around the country, and in unlimited quantities.
