Michael Re-signs with Sony

Published: 2003-11-19
Only patience during a three year court battle brought pop icon George Michael "Freedom" from his recording contract with Sony Music. This week Michael re-signed with the UK arm of Sony Music. Details of the deal have not yet been released.

Michael is currently in the studio recording his new CD "Patience" which is scheduled to be released early in 2004. Michael hopes that signing with Sony again will revive his career. Michael has not released a CD since "Older" in 1996. "We are delighted to be working once again with one of the greatest recording artists this country has ever produced," said Sony Music UK chairman/CEO Rob Stringer. According to Sony – who owns a lion's share of Michael's musical catalogue – George Michael has sold over 75 million units during his career of over 20 years.
