Toronto SARS Concert DVD Release

Published: 2004-05-21
Last year the Rolling Stones along with a number of other bands participated in a concert that was aimed at telling the world the city of Toronto was safe. It became known as the SARS concert. The DVD from that concert will be released on June 29. But not everyone will get the same DVD. Canadian fans will have access to an exclusive two disc DVD package which will feature Canadian artists along with the big name international bands.

The artists themselves chose which songs would be included on the DVD. Nothing was held back; even the bottle throwing incident during Justin Timberlake's performance is in the DVD. Not only is the incident itself included, there is a segment with people talking about the event.

The DVD package will sell for around $40. Those involved with the project - from creator to artists – have pledged to donate the proceeds from the DVD to charity. Concert promoter Michael Cohl said that so far one million dollars has been raised. A 60 minute television program of excerpts and a promo piece on Toronto is being offered to television stations all over the world for free.
